Eta Beta, a social cooperative based in Bologna, has launched DPICLEAN, a rental, washing and sanitation service for personal protective equipment and medical devices, in particular masks. DPICLEAN provides for the supply of certified reusable masks, the delivery of clean masks and the collection of dirty ones, the washing with an ECOLABEL certified hygienisation process, the return of the clean inside of washable fabric packages and the supply of special containers where to place used devices.

The service is aimed at entities that carry out public services or have relations with the public such as sanitary facilities, territorial services and in particular to public and private schools but also to private companies.

Once its function is over, personal protective equipment is processed to obtain fabrics to be used in agriculture for mulching fields and in the clothing sector to produce new fibres.

An excellent example of a sustainable initiative that focuses on people’s health and environmental protection through circular economy practices and the use of low impact detergents.
