The new Haliéus website is online. Created in 2005 at the initiative of the Legacoop fisheries sector, Haliéus, a non-profit association, is Legacoop’s system structure for international development cooperation. The association contributes to sustainable development at the international level by promoting the cooperative business model as a tool for empowering individuals and communities.
The association structure currently includes Legacoop, the regional structures of Emilia-Romagna, Puglia e Veneto and the sectoral stuctures Legacoop Agroalimentare, Legacoopsociali, e Ancc-Coop (National Association of Consumer Cooperatives). The structure is also strengthened by the presence of important supporters such as Fairtrade Italia, 4FORM and AITR (Italian Association of Responsible Tourism) and the support of Coopfond, Legacoop’s partner in relaunching the cooperative movement’s commitment to International Cooperation.
The Association now carries out international cooperation initiatives that enhance the experience and expertise of the more than 10,000 cooperative enterprises associated with Legacoop in different economic sectors: from agriculture to fishing, from consumption to welfare and from fair trade to sustainable tourism, just to name a few.
